Overview

Welcome to China2Go Phrase Book v3.0 for Pocket PC, a talking Chinese phrase book. Featuring crystal clear voice recorded by a real person, this product is a great travel companion and an ideal tool to learn Chinese! With our cutting edge voice compression technology, this product includes more than 1000 phrases, their Chinese translation, and the voice in only a few megabytes.

Browse Phrases

This product includes more than 1000 phrases that are frequently used when traveling to Chinese-speaking countries. The phrases are organized into 10 major categories and 50 sub categories. From the main menu, click one of the major category buttons and browse phrases in that category. You can further go to a sub category by selecting from the drop-down list when you browse a major category.
Select a phrase from the phrase list when you are browsing phrases, the box located at the bottom of the screen displays the Chinese translation of the selected phrase.

Simplified and Traditional Chinese

Both Simplified (used in mainland China and Singapore) and Traditional Chinese (used in Taiwan and Hong Kong) are supported in this version. To switch between Simplified and Traditional Chinese characters, click the small yellow button located below the right hand side of Chinese translation box.

Voice

Click the voice icon in the Chinese translation window, you will hear the official mandarin pronunciation of the phrase recorded by a real person. Please note that in the trial period, voice is available only for the "Basic" category. Thanks to our cutting edge voice compression technology, thousands of phrases and real-person voice takes only a few megabytes of your space.

PinYin

PinYin, the official Chinese phonetic system, utilizes the western alphabetic to represent the pronunciation of Chinese characters. China2Go Phrase Book provides full PinYin support for every single phrase. The PinYin of each phrase is displayed in the area located in the middle of the screen, between the English phrase list and the Chinese translation box.

Compose Phrase

 

You may choose words or phrases from a list to build your own phrase. Those words or phrases are enclosed in a pair of brackets.

The list will be dropped down when you click inside the bracket and it disappears automatically after your make your selection. The PinYin display and the Chinese translation will be updated accordingly. You can add the phrase to your "favorites" category, as well.

The figure on the left illustrates an example.

Favorites

Use the "Favorites" category to make your favorite phrases one click away! You can put a phrase into your "favorite" category, accessible from the main menu, by clicking the "Favorites" button.

Related

When applicable, "related" phrases can be browsed by clicking the related button on the tool bar. This feature can not only make your conversation a lot easier, but also help you learn Chinese.

Search

You can search phrases by key word(s). Click the search button on the toolbar for this function.
